Welcome

OMG! This is like a talk page apparently! You can use it to like talk and stuff, in like, the sections below this message, you know? I know, right! Like, if you could, please don't be all like "blah blah blah," which is totally lame, and instead if you could be like "blah blah blah" which is like HOTTEST EDIT EVER!

Charged Attacks

I think that you might want to wait until you've got confirmation of the true costs of (Greater) Smite before making changes... unless you've either got somebody with those skills, or have spoken to somebody who has. --WikiMallich 13:36, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

Sure but I don't see any information in the change logs to support Smite/Greater Smite not costing an additional AP to use. It was like that in the original game as well. Since your thread is not getting any love at the moment, I say we go rogue, assume for now the AP cost for charging an attack is an additional AP, and go from there. At least everything would be consistent and mesh with how we think it works. A Dev can always override us and it only takes like three seconds to made a change if we find the cost is different later on. -Dangermouse 17:17, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
I'm an idiot - I didn't even think to check the changelog. Whoops. *Checks through it.* Hmm. I'll go through each one in turn.
Greater Smite was introduced as a "Charged attack, requires 2 AP, 15 MP to use". The next mention was in the 5/11/11 bugfix: "Greater Smite was using 2 AP, now uses 1". I'll mark it as a total AP cost of 1 for the moment.
Way of Fire was implemented as a "Charged attack, requires 1 AP and 10 MP to use". The next mention of it was in the 5/11/11 bugfix: "Way of Fire was using 2 AP, now uses 1". Again, I'll mark it as a total AP cost of 1 for the moment.
Lesser Smite (later renamed to Smite), Hellfire, and Focused Attack were all implemented as charged attack which cost MP and "bumps attack cost to 2 AP". The 2/4/10 update "Reduced attack costs of Hellfire, Lesser Smite, Focused Attack to 1 AP (was 2 AP)."
Plague of Doubt was introduced as a 2 AP charged attack, and I can't see anything saying that it's changed.
All of this relies on the changelog being accurate - which it might not be - and listing every change - which it certainly doesn't. I'll use it anyway. --WikiMallich 20:30, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
Nice find. I missed the archives at the top of the changelog wiki page. So the question now is does that mean the total cost is now 1AP or was the bug actually adding 2 extra AP (so 3 total) and Bob changed it back to an extra AP? I came across thread which seems to say Way of Fire / Greater Smite have no additional cost and Rage costs 1 more AP.-Dangermouse 21:01, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
"So the question now is does that mean the total cost is now 1AP or was the bug actually adding 2 extra AP (so 3 total) and Bob changed it back to an extra AP?" The former, for Greater Smite and Way of Fire. Notice that the thread you linked to is dated "Mar 26, 2012". This was therefore after the 5/11/11 bugfix/patch that dropped the AP cost of Way of Fire / Greater Smite. The Greater Smite and Way of Fire both do indeed use no more AP than a normal attack, while I can confirm that Rage Strike uses 1 more AP than a normal attack. --WikiMallich 18:55, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
